Car cutting out - BMW Forum

Hi Guys

I own a 2002 318i sedan. My problem started recently. While I am driving the car would cut. i.e. the revs drop, battery light comes on and then the car comes back to normal. It seems to be doing this quite often. I have sent the car in to BMW here in Johannesburg, South Africa. They put the car on their diagnostics machines and could not pick up any errors.

I dont know what to do.

Does anyone know what the problem could be ? Have u guys experienced it on your cars ?

I'm no expert on BMW's, but I am on the domestics--and it sounds to me like your losing a ground intermittently for the ign./fuel control circuit. May require some chasing.

good thought 441... another thing to consider is maybe an intermittent fault in the voltage regulator. the battery light is obviously the big sign that there is something going on with the charging system.
