will be receiving my 330ci black sap/black leather performance pack bmw soon. bmw comes prewired for car alarm but no alarm. dealership wants to charge $500.00+ for install. should i pass? if so, can anyone recommend good car alarm? initially windows were not going to be tinted ($200.00), but salesperson said he would hook up the tint at no cost. should i pass on the dealership tint and search for my own or say ok to bmw?

i asked the same question about the alarm a while ago.

the answer i got was that bmw's are hard to steal so you don't need an alarm.

but a free tint sounds good to me

Surely BMWs are desirable, therefore likely to get stolen? However 'hard' car makers might think their cars are to steal, they are wrong. Any (most) unprotected cars can be taken in under 2 minutes.

Save the money and fit an aftermarket alarm. You'll get something much better.
