Camshaft Sensor

I have recently had problems with my car stalling and with advice from other BMW members I had my sensors checked, which showed that my camshaft sensor has failed, this apparently controls the intake etc into the engine thus stalling the car.
I had some stupid price from the dealership to change this device and am hoping to buy the item myself and install it, but can not find where the device is located within the engine bay.

Does anyone know were the camshaft sensor is located? I have a 325ci E46 Coupe

try this link, I have a similar problem but my car is operating fine, the only problem is it keeps showing that check engine light and then it goes away after a few days..
its just messed up..my car is up for the state inspection hope it clears ..

I recently had one of the sensors replaced. I read all the threads on this but was unsure as I had no stalling, only constant "Service Engine Soon" light. I followed another poster's advice and went to AutoZone. They checked the codes in about 2 minutes for free. There are apparently a few codes that mean you need to change the sensor.
Anyway, I planned to do it myself but found out I had a few more miles on my warranty.
I would buy a manual and do it myself. Also, there are a few DIY postings around; like BMWTips.com
