Thumbs up

1999 323i Help. I was driving home from work yesterday & all of a sudden my indicator lights for turn signals, hazard, fog & high beam did not light up - as well as sound. Then to top it off I pulled over to the side of the road & my remote key did not work at all. My interior lights did not turn on as well. As I drove it straight to the dealer the radio died & a message DISABLED appeared. When I got to the dealer they did a quick check on the car & found everything on the exterior were functional except in the cabin. Service advisor also said that there might be a short somewhere which can also be linked to the alternator. I have an appt Mon which will cost me around $198.00 just for the diagnostic. Is there anyone out there who's experienced somewhat similar situation? Love my car but have spent too much $$$ for repairs alone.

I have a similar problem but my car got flooded to seat level. Did you ever get it fixed? I think it's a short but I am not sure where.

I took it to the dealership for the diagnostic test. I dropped it off every morning for the whole week & they did not find anything. They could not locate the short. Then finally on Wed night when I picked it up everything was working. Tested it almost the whole night in the garage & everything was ok. Dropped it back off at the dealer Thurs A.M. & everything still ok. Finally on Fri afternoon my svc advisor called me to pick up the car. The problem never returned & could not even duplicate the problem so he said just to pick up the car. Had to pay $199.00 for diagnostic & dealer could not even find the problem.

To this day everything is functional.

Attached is what I used to solve my problem. I thought i'd share it with you so if it returns you don't have to pay to have nothing done. n
The problem is a short in a attachment to the K-bus cause a low voltage to reach the radio as such it reads disabled. Read the pdf and you will understand it clearly.

i had a cd changer installed 2 yrs ago. do you think this contributed to the short? after this happened i had them disconnect the cd changer. to this day it is still disconnected & everything is still functional.
