Hey guys, I have a 2001 330i and am the only owner... up to now, my a/c was working fine, but all of a sudden it just stopped working. When I turn on the a/c nothing but hot air is blowing out. I used a can of R-134a with the dye and I saw it coming from the low end of the a/c valve. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
low end of the A/C valve?.... do you mean your low pressure port; or other valve?
anywayz, if you see the dye... it only menas you have a leak in your system, and the location where the dye exposes itself is where your leak is.
low end a/c valve... i will assume this is your low side port. you can try and change the Schrader valve... and then test for proper seal with soap suds ;-)
after all that is done, you'll still need to have your system vacuumed out (to eliminate air and moisture in ur system) before you reload R-134a.
You are right... it is the low pressure point. I will pick up the part this weekend. Any idea on how much it will cost to have the system vacuumed out? is it something simple? any special parts needed?
