Hi,
I'm almost closing a deal on a 2004 325xi BMW with extremely high mileage of 164,000 miles, almost 80% high way miles.
The car is obviously well maintained, at a BMW dealership (it was a company car and the company used to pay for all the maintanance cost).
I checked the car and found it in excellent shape inside and out.
My question is: What is the likelyhood of something failing any time soon? Also I'm not planning to keep the car for life. I will most likely drive it for 2-3 years only. So how hard is it to re-sell the car after it passes the 200,000 miles?
I believe the offer I have for the car is good and that is $7000. Is it a really good deal for a car with this high mileage?

Your help is appreciated.
The car that you want to get is a great car I have 280,000 miles on it and it still pulls and drives with only a few up keep items just remember go to Ebay for your parts not the dealer.
That is a lot of miles, but like DnM said it is a great car. Just put a 100K on my '04 325i! It still runs great and I will drive that car until the letters fall off it!
Look at the maintenance report and see what has been done. Most of my major repairs we done under warranty (ac evap/cond, coils, engine supports). Did have to cough up $ for the control arms a couple of months ago and have to change the water pump soon as well. Most important: find yourself and good reliable mechanic and skip the dealer.
