My 318Ci Sport was my second beemer, I had the 36 before that and was really happy with the quality. (being a Porsche man that says a lot).

I bought a new 02 318Ci Coupe which on first impressions was just as good.
Then after a few months of living with it i began to feel very precious about it. Why?

The glass for one, was it made of sugar toffee instead of glass, every time a big fat soft fly hit it it would stake a 2p sized chunk of glass with it.

It made me afraid to drive it since everytime I got back from a journey it looked like it had been peppered with shrapnel and machine gun fire.

That car was metallic black, which didnt help.
Anyone else noticed a softening of materials between versions.

i couldn't notice many changes of the materials on the e46 beemers between years, but how fast did you actually drive?:lol:
