Brake Pad Sensor

I have just replaced the brake pads and sensors on my 2000 323i but the brake pad warning light is still on. I talked to a BMW mechanic and he said to leave the key in the on position from five to ten minutes. I did this and the warning light is still on.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey ! Do it an" American way "-stick some duck tape on the warning light on the dash board . No see, no bother !!!

To re-set the fault and put the light out you have to leave the ignition only on for 25secs (that is without the engine running) If the light still doesn’t go out there’s something wrong check the rear pads/sensor or your own work
