I have been suffering with rattling coming from the rear of my 330i. The dealership finally diagnosed it as faulty rear shock mounting. I booked the car in to get it fixed under my warranty, but had a call when they went to start the work, saying they couldn't as they need to access it via the boot, and I have a custom build stereo system moulded and fixed into the boot. Initially I was annoyed, but looking at the problem, I can see it is not their fault, and they are not trained to remove and re-fit non standard equipment, especially the amout I have fitted. The company that designed and fitted my system have been really nice and said they will only charge £100 (plus £20 to fit an interface cable so my Sony head unit works with my multifunction steering wheel) to remove and re-fit everything for me.
I wrote an email to BMW UK Customer Services from an address off BMW.co.uk ,asking if there is anything they could do about my £100 bill, in view of the customer loyalty in the past to BMW. I have just had a call from someone from Customer Services who was realy nice. He explained as I guessed that it is not BMW equipment and they cannot be responsible for its removal and re-fit, but he did realise that I am a devoted BMW customer, and that they will pay half for me. I can't ask for more than that.... You wouldn't get that kind of service from Ford!!
