I have a '99 328i sedan. I bought this car as a Certified Preowned and it has an extended 100,000 mile warranty. The BMW dealership gave this estimate to repair the suspension on my car. part#33-41-1-468-747 wheel bearing $72.19,part#33-41-132-565 nut $24.46---with labor total $344.15. Part# 33-32-1-092-237 wishbone$105.45---with labor total $204.45. Part# 33-32-1-094-887 left upper wishbone $222.60---with labor total $470.10. Part # 33-32-1-094-457 trailing arm $485.10 plus part # 33-33-1-096-601 support $32.01---with labor total $913.11. Part #33-52-6-759-100 shock absorber $120.10 plus part #33-52-1-092-362 guide support $31.26---total with labor $250.40. After this they said to do an allignment total cost $109.95. Only AFTER the allignment (they said) they may find more problems if they exist. TOTAL $2292.16. Also they said I had 3 bent rims, and I'm wondering if they could be staightened at the mechanics or would I have to go to a body shop, and would this straightening be expensive? I'm sure a reliable independent mechanic could do the whole suspension repair much cheaper, although I would want all the parts to be genuine BMW parts. What do you think this suspension repair should actually cost me? And are any of these repairs covered under my extended warranty with BMW? Much thanks.
