Heres the problem with this: BMW already offered to fix cars that had this issue. They offered a certain period of which they would inspect and repair any car found to have this problem for FREE. That period of time ended YEARS ago. BMW is no longer obligated to fix this at their expense. ESPECIALLY if you are not the original owner of the vehicle.
Second, online petitions are a waste of time. For a petition to be legally binding they need a physical signature of the person signing it. You would need probably 250,000 signatures before BMW will even consider looking at it.
If you just bought an E46 and your looking to have your subframe fixed, your going to be paying out of pocket. BMW will not fix it for you.
