Bmw Engine Management Light

Hi everyone

I am new to this forum but am hoping someone can help. My 1999 E46 318ISE has just been serviced (2 weeks ago). Just yesterday the car has started to idle at differing revs not a lot but enough that it doean't feel right and the MPG dial is working the opposite way to how it usually does i.e starts at 50+ Mpg and goes down to 16. The engine management light is on.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what the problem could be. The car has done 90,000 but has given me no problems in the past 2 months.

Appreciate anyones feedback on what it could be and how much it is liklely to cost to fix.

Car been serviced 2 weeks ago..take it back to them and have it hooked to diagnostics.....the MPG dial does not increase when gas pedal depressed..it does go down on take offs/uphills etc to show you LESS #s MPG...it maxes while going down hills or let go of gas pedal at 60 mph.. MORE/higher #s MPG....works opposite of your RPM dial!!!
