BMW E46 Sat/Nav GPS

Hi there, i have a 2003 E46 touring and my colleague has just purchased a 2001 E46 saloon. He does not want the BMW sat/nav and has offered to sell it to me for my business RDS radio/casette + some cash.

My questions are:

1. Is it possible to swap these two items? As far i can see, the sat/nav is made up of the central unit comprising TV, cassette and climate controls, a DVD that sits somewhere else and a GPS antenna?

2. Is there a wiring loom or anything else that would not be present in my car?

3. Will my radio/cassette and climate controls fit in his car as they are both E46s?

4. If this car is a 2000/2001 model, is the software likely to be out of date at all? If so. whats the cost of new DVDs?

Any advice much appreciated?

putting the nav system in your car is not going to be an easy task. but it is possible.

check the link that braymond posted. you will see how involved this type of project will be.
