johnnybayonne is on a distinguished road
I think this is a matter of opinion....

I agreed that BMW's aren't as reliable as the Japanese competitors
I have 2000 Honda Odyssey & when the odometer reached 81,000 the transmission failed completely causing a check engine light with a slipping & banging into gear condition..........I found out that this was Honda manufacturing defect & there was a recall on all 99-01 Odyssey's.....So the vehicle is 8 years old, with low mileage for a quality Japanese competitor.... My BMW is 11 years old & I just did the trans service @ 90,000, the fluid was still cherry red & the trans shifts like a dream......
johnny,

p.s. A little note: 4 months prior to the Honda's transmission problem, the water pump went bye bye.......& if I did not have the extended warranty, it would of cost me $1,200.00 to replace.......believe me when I tell you, I was a mechanic by trade..... I worked for Acura, Honda, Toyota, to list a few. Now just fixing my Bimmer.... I would not even want to attempt to replace that water pump on a transverse engine.... but I replaced the water pump on my e36 & it cost me $65.00....so there are pros & cons in choosing a vehicle....& this is just how I feel... but my BMW has been very nice to me....
