BMW 320d 2002 e46 - ticking noise coming from engine help!!! - BMW Forum

Hey people,

I have a 320d e46 and its pre 2004 so i have had the turbo, cat and inlet manifold all changed not to mention the rear lights as they weren't earthed properly. There is one problem that my mechanic cannot figure out and it is a tickign noise coming from the engine when i drive the car over 2-3000 revs. Can anybody help on what this is? My mechanic said there are no fault codes displaying and the car is fine, but i am worried as this noise does not sound healthy, it makes it sound like its dying.

Help anybody!!!!

Mate i've just had this repaired, turns out one of the injectors had failed.

the jobs is about is quite big as it is hard to get to and i think most of the top part of the engine needs to come off. The injector itself is about £250 and the labour about £150.

You will find that once the injector is replaced the car will run like a dream and your fuel economy will increase dramtically as at the moment if you are a victim of the injector fault then your car is pushing fuel the wrong way and burning alot more.
