battery draining- replaced alterntor twice, need help

hello everyone, im having a bit of trouble with my 2001 330ci. i have replaced the alternator twice already and some how the battery still finds away to drain itself. i have also replace the battery and believed that would stop the problem. im new to the whole bmw scene but have owned this one for quite sometime, could anyone tell me if this is a common problem or just something im not paying attention to when i turn off the car for the night.
