150k miles
torque convertor is crapping out. shifts like shit.
Take very good care of tranny. I always come to a complete stop before putting into drive from reverse. Always take care when shifting into first at a light(with the manual mode)
While some of these problems are software related, the majority of them are the result of people believing the BMW bullshit about their transmissions never needing service. Any transmission and any oil are subject to the laws of physics and chemistry. When you talk to people who REALLY know what they are talking about, they will tell you to service the damn thing regularly-(35K is a good interval). Even mighty BMW cannot defy the laws of nature.
Bought a 03 330i and while braking transission jumped while switching from 2nd to 1st. Listened to the fine people in this forum took it to the dealer and paid $290 to get it reprogrammed. Now everything works good.

From day one the thing has occasionally given an almighty jolt and bang kind of like running over a brick.
It only happens once a week maybe (then 3 times in the same journey) whilst kicking down from 5th to 4th at speed on the motorway.
I moaned to BM dealership but they never really took me seriously since they said they couldnt drive at 80mph and "boot it" legally to see for themselves.
Oh Well - it's nearly ready for the big scrap yard in the sky anyway
1999 323i,90000 miles. No problem at all.Changed tranny fluid twice so far.
i have a 2003 bmw 330i with109,000 miles. at 98k miles, i had the 100k mile service from an indy shop in lancaster,ca. the owners son,who basically ran the shop( bmw specialty shop) told me that the trans fluid was to last the life of the car, so there is no need to change the trans fluid. so, the trans fluid was not changed!! what the hell was he thinking? another indy told me to get it changed. i will.
