Autodimming Mirror

I recently ordered a 325i without the premium package due to the fact that I did not want BMW Assist. However I would have added the autodimming mirror if it were a separate option. I have 2 questions, first, What is your opinion of the Autodimming mirror? Second, Is there a way to purchase an OEM Autodimming mirror? Thanks

I have the auto dimming rear view mirror and I really like it. It doesn't tilt like some other styles, it just dims itself, and reduces the glare from behind. It does a pretty good job of knowing when to dim and when not to.

You don't even have to think about it.

However, I don't know about any after market stuff.

In my opinion, it is nice to have, but I wouldn't go out and spend a couple of hundred bucks (or whatever) to put one on aftermarket.

When I ordered my 2002 325i the auto-dimming mirror wasn't part of the Premium pkg. The agent gave me a catalog / list of all other options I could add to the car in manufacturing. I added the mirror... it was a couple of hundred bucks but worth every penny. Large vehicles behind you at night (alot of SUV's in CA) will never bother you again.

Worth every penny.

auto dimming side mirrors would be nice cuz even tho the rear view mirror dims.. the side view reflection of those DAMN suvs' is a pain still.. but then having those dimmed can cause driving hazards so maybe thats why we dont have them eh?
