i just graduated highschool and got a shit load of grad money. anyways i drive a e46 02' 325ci and im planning on putting $500 of it into my car but dont know where to start. i was thinking of starting with a cold air and than an exaust but my friend said to go with headers and a short ram? any ideas?

You are closer to being right than your friend. $500 won't go very far, by the way.

I suggest that you get a cold air intake and software.

Exhausts are expensive and will not really do much aside from sound. Headers and short ram? It's not like you are trying to unleash some monstrous amount of horsepower.

Also, are you certain all your regular maintenance is up to date? That would be the first thing I would attack. You may find that to absorb your $500 budget.
