AM Radio

I do not recieve a clear AM signal anywhere! I brought the car in to get checked and the dealer insists there is nothing wrong. : I thought it was just my car until I had a loaner car and found a similar problem. All I get is static for the most part, occasionally, depending on time of day and location, a weak signal on only the strongest stations. I live in NY metro area. Is this a common problem?? If so, is there a fix? Thanks!

isnt that an old world war II band

here in the UK we use a new technology called FM (VHF)

we dont have many AM channels any more and the ones that are still using this old frequency are very poor to recieve the signal

have you tried using the LW band?? does that give the same results??

Hey Storm ! Forget about it ! Here they have only two buttons on their car or home stereos.One for AM other for FM,nothing else...:lol:

I knew I'd get that response!! I need AM around here to listen to my beloved NY Yankees / NY Ranger games in the car. Two AM stations is all I need!

Poor AM reception is a common complaint with e46. It is somewhat normal however if its really bad then it could be an issue in the car. You can try removing the left rear interior C-pillar trim panel. there is an antenna amplifier there. Check to make sure that the coax connections are tight. Try turning the radio on and wiggling the coax while listening to AM station. See if wiggling the coax changes the reception. If so use pliers to tighten it until the reception is better. If that doesnt help then it may just be normal or it may be a faulty antenna (part of rear windshield) or something else. Keep in mind that window tint can sometimes effect reception as well.
