almost time to upgrade

My '94 325i is due for replacement...Im looking at getting an awd E46. What can you guys say for model years, and 325xi vs 330xi? Should I definitely go for the bigger engine? I will be getting something awd for sure and of course will be looking for the best deal...what do you think. I dont know too much about the E46 generation.

i have an e46 330xi, and i love it, the bigger engine gives you a bit more fun from the ride, i think cuz i like to mess around every once in a while, as for gas, i guess they would be the quite similar in consumption if you drive either or. Also where i live the 325 is quite common and i like to to stand out a bit. But i guess in the end it all come down on which you get a better deal, so good luck
