Everytime I turn off my A/C some really bad smell comes out of the vents for a while. It kinda smells sour and if I turn the A/C back on it will be ok. Any ideas?
I'm also experiencing the same thing.........it happens when the A/c is off and the air recirculation is also off. I haven't had the time to contact the dealership......but any idea to get rid of the smell would help.
here is what i did or an air conditioning specailist will do for a small fortune
i took out my air con filter panel...(panel nder the windscreen wipers)
turned on a/c at lowest temp,,and highest fan setting
sprayed some disinfectant into the aperture and therefore killed all known germs DEAD!!!!!
i used an anti bacterial spray from the supermarket
but the air con specailists willl tell you theres is special.......
also you should use the a/c once a week and full power once a week as well.

mositure collects in there, the solution described quite radical but perhaps necessary.
i give the ac vents full heat from time to time, to dry everything. also, i hear that recirculation is bad, fresh air good.
the stinking computer also turns on the recirculation on its own, to get the temp lower faster. someone has desribed a way to prevent this, moderators???

Just replace you cabin filter, it's not that much money to replace and the smell will be gone and you'll have a nice clean filter.

That doesnt work... Anyway, what I did was get some Lysol and spray it into the air intakes for the AC system. It got rid of it for about 2 months, the smell is coming back. So I am gonna try some stronger stuff next time. Probably gonna try walmart or something, I went to a few autoparts stores and none of them had any A/C cleaners or anything. So anyone have any suggestions? The lysol works but it's not strong enough. So anyone have any suggestions to whee I might be able to get one?
