Air bag question

Hello to all you knowledgable people. Im new to the forum because I'm new to owning a BMW. I bought a 2004 BMW 325XI that had minor damage to the left front fender and wheel area. Im fine with repairing all the mechanical items but I'm not sure on the airbag system. The drivers door bag and curtain bag deployed. I removed both bags and I am waitin for the replacements to come in. From what I have read I will need to replace the side impact sensor. (location?) I also read that the module can be reset 3 times. Is this information correct? What will I need to reset the module? Will a Snap On scan tool reset the module or do I need something specific?. Thanks in advance and keep your ears open because Im sure I will have other questions as I move along with the repairs.
