aftermarket intake ?

i have a 99 bmw 323i, i just put an AEM shart ram air intake into my car, when i step gently on the gas i get a whistle sound that comes from the engine, now i know it's not a performance sound it's pretty annoying, has any one had this problem and know what i can do about it, now i was on some other msg board and people say it's normal that it's a performance sound but it isn't i know that much, any ways any help would be great
