I'm thinking about adding an AEM cold air intake system to my 2000 BMW 323ci. What exactly does this do and is it worth it? I can buy the sytem for about $165.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

as the name says, it takes in cold air, instead of hot air.
cold air has more density than hot air, so your engine gets more air to burn.

A cold air system alone will not give 10-15 hp.

A cold air intake system, reprogrammed software and a sport exhaust system will give minimum 15-18 hp.
