AC Not blowing cold air

My car decided to stop blowing cold air. My guess is it may be out of refrigerant. I see in the warranty refrigerant is not covered. How much does BMW hit you over the head for a recharge? Should I just take it in anyway to confirm that is the problem.

It is sort of strange that after about a minute the passenger side will blow some slightly cool air while the drivers side doesn't. I do know about the dial between the vents and it had no impact at all.
