6 Speed Manual

Greetings one and all...I'm new to the forum and to BMWs. I just took delivery on a 330xi with a 6 speed manual. I have had manuals in most of my cars I have owned but all have been week 4 cylinder types. My question is simply this: How careful do I need to be with the gears and RPMs in any one of the 6 gears? Assuming I don't redline, is this transmission really designed to be played with? Thanks in advance....James

It's a BMW. Definitely designed to be pushed... just no money shifts, please!

the zf tranny in 330i will not tolerate much abuse. 2 gear synchro will wear out in no time if you do not clutch properly.

A mis shift, generally its from 3rd gear accidentally shifting into 2nd when you meant to go into 4th. This becomes a problem when you are redlining the car in 3rd and shift into 2nd, which causes the car to over rev, and ussually the valves float and when the pistons go back to TDC you get bent valves, you basically blow your engine up.
