Hi Everyone-

As everyone in this forum have had seen the world Wide rise of Oil prices since the past several weeks and no lessening of prices in near future ;'Pundits' are predicting that prices could top $80/barrel and that we all could be bearing after-effects to the tune of $3:50/Gallon or more by this summer and very well say to the low prices in near distant future.

So gurus and pundits who have had BMW for quite some time advise all the members in the forums on how to increase the efficiency of mileage so we all could some $$ over the next several months.

//I read somewhere in the forums on NOT overfilling the gas tank are one of the several ways of saving gas mileage.//

Please share your thoughts and ideas !! Also let us know how much mileage your 3 series ideally gives on local and highways so forum members could have an idea !!

-Thanks!!!

When I heard gas prices in my area are going to be around 4.00/gallon I freaked out and bought that turbantor for 70 bucks to test it out. I figured that I would be the first one on the forums to see if this worked (I'm only expecting gas mileage to improve not power) or not and write up a review. Plus if it blows, I get 30 days to return it no questions asked. So I'll post up how it goes. Will take a couple of weeks before I get it though...

scum or not scum , but scientificly it make more sense, than K& N or others brand air filters , which do nothing except gumming up mass air flow sensors(you spray the filters with a special oil) that what cause the problem and you spent several hundred bucks to replaced the sensor gaining nothing !

I am averaging 28.5 mpg in a mix of city and hwy. I don't think that is bad. I am driving a 6sp and know how to drive though.

Here's another good one: Remove all morons such as this person from above from our country.

Bush has nothing to do with this. You can blame our previous presidents and the 9/11. Good game.

Yeah ! Iagree with you Kid. Bush and his family is part of oil cartel and it is in their interest to keep prices of sweet crude oil up, so as long as he is in power do not expect any modest prices for gasoline ( What tha fuck ! and we here in Canada have to suffer , because of him)

Foreign policy. Unless you think war is good for the oil industry?

I don't believe there is a lot of truth to the conspiracy theories, but our foreign policy towards the middle east and other islamic oil producing states has hurt our supply of oil, thus the increase in price. Is Bush directly to blame? Hardly, but he's happy to be a puppet so I'm happy to talk shit on him any chance I can.

First of all, gas isn't going to ht $3.50 or even $3.00 (other than cali) any time soon. It may go up a little in the next two or three months and then probably fall back a bit. I follow this for my job. Anyway, I am averaging 28.5 mpg in my 330i w/6sp. It isn't easy to do this because I want to drive the car faster well really quicker is a better term, but I just cruise around and don't slow down for bends much to keep my momentum going. That is fun. I'll bet I could average close to 30mpg if I really wanted to, but I need to have a little fun.

I really don't have any advise except to drive smoothly. No sudden starts and anticipate the stop signs and red lights. I see tons of people racing to get to a red light and they speed past me only to sit there and wait for me to gently cruise up along side of them. I get a kick out of that. On the hwy, I do drive very fast, but smooth. I let the people blast on the hwy and pass me only for me to pass them later as I go 70-80mph.

As far as this political discussion the destabilazation in the Mid East is part of the problem and the increased demand in China. I will say that bush is a big oil guy. His family is big in the business and so is cheney of course. Lets put it this way. Oil companies are making record earnings and have been for the past year or so. That tells me a few things about the situation we are in. The rich in this country are going to get richer and poor poorer. This being a BMW forum, I guess most people wouldn't care about that, but I really don't want the poor to get any poorer. It isn't good for us all.

Enjoy,
Curt
