i'm thinking about getting a new set of rims for my 330xi. i called the dealer to see if it's ok to have staggered fit on my car. they said it's ok, but i want to make sure. is it really ok? i dont wana buy the rims and let them go to waste.

dont bother, you might as well save the money on tires (cant rotate them) and really the reason for staggered set ups on M cars is because BMW engineers did it so the less experienced drivers would stand a chance when cornering hard. the staggered setup helps induce understeer. a 330 has ample power probably enough to get a staggered set but like i said above i would bother.

i have the 330 i pp which comes with staggered set up. 225 front 255 back.

NOT GOOD. the car has initial understeer, and it is actually hard to drive it on the throttle, without purpusefully digging the brakes in. it is very annoying, and i will go to 245 size all round as soon as i wear out current tyres.

in my hands, it is better than m3 (although obviously much slower), which seems to have more of the initial understeer, probably because m3 has a much stiffer front roll bar than my car.

i would never go to stagger on a stock e46.

not sure about 8.5 on the front. my car has 8 in front. you can stuff 245 on those.

I just realizedd you had the XI, with four wheel drive you want to keep the tire size the same.
