330i ZHP Idle & Engine Light

Does anyone know anything about this? I have a 2004 330iZHP with 75K miles...just recently the engine light came on and it began to idle rough--reduced RPMs and kinda shakes and rattles at the lower RPM's...if I depress the throttle so that the RPM's are at 800+, it feels fine...it runs great otherwise and have no other problems...I took it to the shop and the first time they replaced all the spark plugs and all the coils...reset the engine light of course but it came on the next day--idling was still rough...they checked it again and said its a regulator sensor related to the cam-shaft...said it wasnt a big problem but expensive to repair...I read a bunch of forums and it seams all 330is are plagued by this idling problem...Is this something that I should live with or is it worse than I'm thinkin it is...Also, I just put it on the market 2 weeks prior to all this--is there any reassurance I can give a perspective buyer?

If it is really one of the camshaft sensors (as they say)part is no expensive($100 plus) and easy to replace,under one hour labour.

Did they read the codes before they started changing stuff out? Take it to an AutoZone. They can read the codes for yo for free. Then let us know what the code was and we can go from there.

Thanks! I'll be getting the codes read again today..if its the Cam Position Sensor, Idle Air Control Valve, or Knock Sensor--how hard are these to replace on your own? Do you need any special tools/equipment? Thanks again.

I had the same issue with my 2004 330CI ZHP last week took it in and it took the shop a few days to find the problem but it was the Valve adjustment unit within the Intake manifold. $600 later car is running better than ever.
