I'm having trouble upgrading to HIDs. I cannot make the lights fit right. I purchased an H7 kit for my 2001 330CI Conv. but the housing is totally different. Does the housing for the original bulbs come apart or is there a special adaptor needed to complete the installation? Any feedback and/or help is greatly appreciated.
I will post some pictures tomorrow but since the 330 come with an H7 bulb and I got the H7 conversion kit shouldn't it fit? I did the same for for my 2007 Honda Pilot and it took me 10 minutes to install. Thanks for your reply by the way.
Typically, a HID Kit includes 2x Xenon bulbs, 2x high-quality digital ballast (waterproof/dustproof), 2x ballast holders and one installation manual. You have also a wide range of bulb sizes to select from, e.g. H1, H3, H4, H7, H8, H9, H10, H11, H13, HB2, HB3, HB4, 9003, 9004, 9005, 9006, 9007, 9008, 880, 881, and 894. Color temperature includes 4300K (pure white), 6000K, 8000K (blue), 10000K and 12000K. Among these temperatures listed, 6000K and 8000K are the most popular ones.
Do the HID bulbs and the standard bulb look the same? The base that connects to the headlight housing that is. It is possible they sent you the wrong bulbs.

Hi, First post so go easy on me, but I think you need the bulb holders.
Normal bulbs/lamps plug into a holder. HID's need the clearance in the holder for the wires to go through to the ballast.
HOWEVER.....my bulb holders still allowed some movement, so I used adhesive to stick the bulb to the holder to stop excessive vibration.
Ha and don't forget that the bulb/lamp holder can only be fitted one way. Not upside down like i tried on mine, took me a few mins to figure out what was going on :-o
