330ci engine transplant - I NEED HELP!

Hi,

I have just purchased a damaged 2005 330ci. I have been offered a M52T engine out of a 323ci (E46) for free. I was wondering whether this engine would fit straight into a 2005 coupe.

After doing a bit of research I was told I need the original key, ignition barrel, ECU and the ‘brain’ for the gearbox that came with the M52 engine car.

I also found out that the ECU needs reprogramming after everything’s been fitted.

Has anybody ever attempted this?

Any advice?

Do I need to go to a BMW dealer?

What kind of money should I be expected to pay in £’s?

So to rephrase it has anybody ever attempted to put an older engine into a newer car.

323ci (2000) M52 into a 330ci (2005)

it should fit no pb if you mean the size...
cuz even M5 V8s can go in there...
so size should be a pb...
but the mech part...hmm...shouldn't be a pb, too..I think...
