330Ci add 60 miles on the tachometer?

I have car in repair shop and they replaced overheated engine now in order get money (loan) to pay for repairs and take car out i have to do smog.

Repair guy wont give me car he drove it to do smog upon my request, but the smog people told him that car needs to drive at least 60 miles after disconnecting the battery in order to set on board diagnostic codes to set.

As i understand its only matters for emission measurement right? Is there some way to do it without driving car i mean mileage is not the question its just leaving it on idle and then pushing gas pedal should do the trick right?

P.S. I am going to lose my car if i cannot pass smog... :

ANY repair shop that refuses to give you your car is a very shady shop. I would take my car, and my keys and run. That's sketch.

The computer has the ability to "adapt" to driving styles. If its a brand new engine then it will need to be broken in. Without the break in period it may not pass. We don't do smog in Canada so I can't be for sure. But go get your car!!!
