We just purchased a 1999 BMW 328IC - 1 week ago. My wife just called from home to say that the car won't start and won't turn over. The lights work so am guessing it is not the battery and am thinking it might be a security alarm issue. When buying it, we didn't get the remote keys that I think go with it and got just one regular key. Any help you can suggest is appreciated.
A simple no cost solution - try jumping the car first. The battery may have enought juice to light the headlights, etc. but not quite enough to turn the starter. This happened to me several weeks ago. Turned the key and "click click click" in rapid, short succession. Headlights lit up, etc. Jumped the car and it started right up. Long story short, the battery was going bad.
