328i Brake Light Problem - BMW Forum

Ok, I'm having this weird problem with my passenger side brake light. The original brake light finally burned out so I had to replace it. So i go to the local Pep Boys and buy a new bulb to replace it with. But for some strange reason the bulb refuses to stay down on the electrical contact. So the bulb will work for about 5 mins and then it will pop up out of the housing a little bit and not light up. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows of a way I could fix it. I'm sure I replaced it with the right type of bulb so that shouldn't be the problem. It's just driving me crazy.

you need to push down on the buld and twist it clockwise for it to lock in. If you are doing that then maybe the bulb IS wrong. Compare the locking tangs from bulb to bulb and make sure they are idcentical. Beyond that I wouldnt recommend using anything but Factory Osram bulbs as many times aftermarket bulbs have a higher resistance and can cause bulb failure warnings in the dash even though they are working.
