325xi Question - BMW Forum

Hello, not brand new to the forum, but 1st post--would appreciate if those more informed than I could weigh in on an estimate I received for replacement of both lower control arms on an '01 325xi with 72k. The initial estimate was $700.00 then rose to $1000.00, due, apparently, to the mechanic not immediately realizing something pertaining to bushings(?) that are likely to needed, as well. (Trying to be prudent, I sought a second estimate, which was $700.00, so was comparable). Both are reputable local mechanics who regularly work on BMW's but with whom I don't have 1st hand experience. Thanks for whatever wisdom you can offer.

Well if you were in Toronto area I could recommend you a fair mechanic. The way I will look at it is, the control arm work is anywhere between 1 to 2 hours of labor plus parts. You can get an estimate for the parts from a local BMW dealer then add the labor to it. Hope it helps.
