325i stalling - BMW Forum

Hello all! Just signed up today & I could use some help. I just replaced the expansion tank, and thermostat on my wife's 325i ran it without the airbox so I could check for leaks.... No leaks....Great!

Put the airbox back on and hopped in to go for a test ride and the car stalled on me.
additionally the service engine soon light is on,the dsc light is on, the brake light is on. what gives. Oh yeah it is shifting hard too.

It is a 2004

Is it auto? It could be in limp-mode but I doubt that !
Have you checked that you have reconnected any electrical connections?
Try disconnect the battery for an hour... On some cars it can rest the ECU.
Just a thought...

Yeah it an auto with the manual shift 5 speed. I drove it around this morning without issues although I never went over 35mph. The service engine soon light is still on. I'm going to take it on the main road to Autozone to have them check for codes. I did do the battery disconnect yesterday & it still stalled......... Thanks for your advice, more details to come after the Autozone trip.

Have you left/bumped any vacuum lines off when it was apart?
Will it rev smoothly through (up and down) the normal rev range in nuetral?
Is it possible that the AMS has picked up some crud in the process?
