Unhappy 325 No Gears

I have a 2004 325 with SMG. My battery went dead, and after a jump, the car started fine, and I drove for a bit to re-charge battery. Now, after starting, It will not go in any gear other than N, and the gear cog light and a beep happens. Any ideas? Thank you.

How many miles on the car? Do you know the condition of the transmission fluid?

Less than 30k miles, and fluid? No idea. Is fluid a problem? Would there not be a light? Thank you.

With only 30,000 miles, I'm more inclined to suggest a hunt for an electrical fault.

I think you are right. I'm thinking the power failure screwed up something computerized not allowing it to find the gears. But, what do I know - that is why I am here! Thanks much!

Maybe you can get the computer scanned for codes. If you can get the car to one, many auto parts stores do that free.
