I wanted to buy the 325xi, but I cant quite afford it so I've been looking into the Audi A4. I know that the BMW I6 is one of the smoothest engines out there and I'd like to know if it would fit into a 1999-2001 A4 Quattro (awd). Also, if anyone out there has owned an A4 I'd appreciate your opinion on the car. Thanks in advance!
dude, dont ever put a bmw engine in a audi...just buy a used bmw...
Well, I'd love a used bmw but unfortunately for me I'm stuck on buying a car with awd and the 325xi is about $5k more than I wanna spend at the moment. I guess I'll just get the audi a4 2.8 even though I wanted an I6 and not a v6. Why doesn't anyone else make an I6? Its a travesty. I'm going to miss driving a bimmer. I really will.
Anyway, thanks for the all the input, everyone. Its much appreciated.

You know, I think my friend talked me out of getting an audi today. Is awd really that important? Nah, it doesn't snow here that often. Maybe I should just get a 328i. yeah?
yeah, i live up in seattle and sure it rains 9 months out of the year, but i do just fine with rwd only. And snow, maybe a total 2 weeks out of the year if we're lucky. Awd is fun for a while but you can't beat rwd. Look for a nice 328 and you can start modding. good luck man.

good! i was gonna ask... for $5k more.. wouldnt it be cheaper.. just to buy the ix? I mean you still have to buy the audi, the engine, tranny, other things, and install, right? seems like even if it werent cheaper, itd just be worth the extra dough.
