I'm looking at buying a used BMW and have only test driven a 328i auto so far. I've found a 2001 320i auto but wonder if anyone knows if the auto really kills the power of the 320. Is manual the only way to get decent performance from this smaller engine?
If you have driven a 328i, you might be "ruined" concerning your 320i enjoyment. With the 320i you will get better performance with the manual trany. Why not go with a 2000 328i or 325i and sacrafice a year - which isn't that big a deal - rather than performance.
