3-series Replacement- New Compact?

Have heard the 3 series is being replaced late 2005 in the UK with a revised model ... was about to buy an E46 compact ... anyone know if the compact is being replaced also and if so, when ?

It is not being replaced. There is a new 1 series coming out targeted at the VW Golf / Jetta market. It is a 4 door plus hatchback (probably a 2 dr model too) but still has the rear wheel drive performance of any BMW.

The Compact will be discontinued by end of this year as the capacity will go to the new 1 series. If you want to buy one, you will have to hurry.
