I have a mystic blue 2004 3.30CI with premium package, sport package, 18"rims, xenon head lights, harman kordon sound system, steptronic.
The car was at 2k miles, the passenger window was replaced and I could not use the passenger door for at least three weeks. The handle for bending the driver seat was broken also. The electic mirrors failed when it was only at 3k. Now the engine stalls in idle. I heard that there is a software problem of the engine that has not been solved by BMW engineers, yet. I paid over 45K for the car and I am really dissapointed. The BMW North America is not helping me at all. They sent me stupid e-mails with no explainations. This is one of their respond;
Dear Mr. Karakas,
Thank you for contacting BMW of North America, LLC regarding the
problems you are having with your BMW. Please be assured that the quality of our vehicles receives our constant attention. This is just a standard form letter. They would send the same letter if the car caught fire and burned to the ground...And they are syaing that the complex cars can have more problems. What kind of a stupid explaination is that?
I noticed that the transmission has serious issues too. I can hear a metal to metal (like crunching) sound coming from the transmission when I shift it to rear [R] from park[P]. I can also hear the sound of the engine coming from my speakers when the engine is idle. That sound system cost me extra 700$.
I wonder if there are any other BMW owners like me, having same issues.
Sorry to hear that. Btw i love your colour combination. If i order another Bimmer it will be the Mystic/Sand combination. I have Topaz/Sand now and it is by far the best looking interior/exterior combination (dont like black/gry). Hope everything works out and you can concentrate on enjoying your purchase.
karakas, its unfortunate you bought a bad apple. You should just be persistent with BMW NA and the dealership as well. Its just like every car company, you find a lemon or bad apple in the bunch and it sucks. BMWs are well made and have very few problems, generally. Good luck with your claim
yo man i got the exact same car but it black, and i love it.
i also hear that 'metal-to-metal' sound when i sift from reverse to park, but otherwise i haven't had any problems. like some1 said, it seems like u just got a rotten apple. the warranty should cover all those problems u decribed.
if only there was a way u could convince BMW that the car has serious flaws and that they should give u a new one... :wink
anyways, good luck, hope things work out.
