i recently purchased a 2005 325 3 months ago and have recently run into a potential problem.
After Idling in traffic or a drive thru for 5-1o minutes, I notice that the car runs and sounds like crap!!!!It sounds just like a big truck does when accelerating on a hot summer day, u know, that loud burley howeling? In addition i notice an immediate acceleration loss! This problem does dissappear after im on the road again...maybe 30 seconds into my drive.
this car only has 1600miles on it, and it just started occuring a day or 2 ago.
P.s no engine check lights come on
Has anybody heard of any such similar problem?
I don't understand most of these symptoms, but since you specifically refer to hot days, does it seem as if the noise is coming from your radiator fan?

I suspect exactly the same thing, that "howling" has to be from the fan. When that fan hits high speed it deos sound like that. Down here in florida on those nasty summer days my 323i sounded exactly like that. My new one however is differant, I cant hear it over the blower. But anyway, I never noticed a power loss. There is also something new BMW drivers feel shortly after they purchase one though...which feels alot like power loss, but is only the "getting used to the power". I know I had it too, after about a month, you get so used to the power that eventually its just natural feeling and you think theres a problem. Im not saying that you dont have a problem...but it happens. Let us know what you find out if its anything. Good Luck!

Your mom has the higher performing BMW? You should let the dealer know, I heard they give discounts for that.
Just kidding guy, good luck on the diagnosis....hopefully its something that they can correct.
