For those of you who, like me, are curious about when the 2005 3 series will debut, and whether or not it will be the next generation 3 series, here's some interesting reading:
I have a general question that relates to this -> How do people feel about buying a 3 series right now with the new body comign out shortly? Should I expect the re-sale value over say a 3 year period to be signifigantly lower than had I bought it in 2000? The dealer (of course) said that it wouldnt be an issue.
Of course seeing as I cant (and dont want to) wait a year+ for a new body 3 series, this dosent matter as much - more for interest sake.
Personally, I'd never buy the first year model of a new car. They may find all sorts of build problems and you'd be SOL. Besides, if you went to buy one right before the new model came out, you might get a better price from a dealership looking to clear out some inventory.
Also, it seems like bmw enthusiasts are divided over the new body styling (Z4, 7, 6, 5), whereas the current 3 series is universally acclaimed.

I have a deposit on an '04 325i, but If the 2005 model is not the new generation, I might change my order to an '05. I would be VERY nervous getting an all-new car, especially considering the problems the German auto industry seems to be experiencing of late. What a shame; the cars are superb conceptually, and the general build quality is wonderful.
