2004 325 xi accident - BMW Forum

Ok so I go in to get some coffee on the way to work and I come out and theres the back of an SUV lodged into my hood. Sucks right. I have a new 325xi on a lease...

Theres no damage to the engine, its merely cosmetic damage. I was wondering if anyone has an experience with this... The lights and bumper are perfectly fine. The grill is just pushed in a couple inches but the hood is pretty messed up. I assume ill need a new hood and grill. Insurance will of course cover this but I was wondering if anyone would like to try to guess at how much the damage would be for a new hood and grill...

Same thing pretty much happened to me, except i have an E30. I took it to the body shop to get an estimate and they said it would cost about 1200 to do it all. I am sure urs will cost more being that its a newer car. I just did it myself for $500, I would just take it to a near by body shop and get an estimate.

It's already back at BMW... they said aprox. 2 weeks depending on how fast the insurance people come to check it out. I was just wondering if anyone had similar experiences. It was a really old Jeep Wrangler... my hood may be worth more than his entire car

i wouldve killed the person and then dealed with insurance. but thats just me. it always makes me sad whena new car gets in a car accident.

Are you saying that your insurance is going to have to cover this? It sounds like this accident was entirely the other dude's fault, so his insurance should be the one on the hook. And if he has no insurance, you should suggest that he have his wife/girlfriend/sister come over to your house and "work off" the damage.
That's total bullsh*t.
Worse, sucks when it happens to a nice new car like that. Sorry dude!

I dont want to freak you out but I've heard of accidents like that where they declare the car totalled. It even happened to my old car which was an E30. It was two months old and so dumbass hit the back and did cosmetic damage like that. It was totalled because the bid to fix it came out to be something disgusting since it was a brand new car. But at least 5K would be my guess, probably a hell of a lot more though.

thanks for the support guys... luckily BMW Manhattan treats us like a kings, my dad leased a 745 when he leased my 325xi... he switched to BMW after being a long time mercedes man... and the salesman we were with wants to keep it that way.. so they took the car in right away and said it will be fixed within a week, and he said he already has the insurance guy from the other guys insurance coming on tuesday.
