2003 330i Transmission Annoyance PLEASE HELP - BMW Forum

Just bought a 2003 330i with 87k about 2 weeks ago, and every time i'm braking whenever my automatic trasnmission switches from 2nd to 1st it doesnt switch smooth at all. Its driving me nuts and mechaninc told me that if the transmission was fucked up it would be messing up while up shifting not downshifting. If anyone encountered this please let me know what this could be and how much money this might be to fix. Other than that best frekin ride ever!!

I think you may need a tranny fluid change. And no, it's not a life time fill and forget.

Yea, thats a programming issue.. when in sports mode, auto bmws tend to downshift more harshly than when not in my experience, esp the 3-2 and the 2-1 downshifts.. are you in sports mode?

Thanks for your help guys. I get rough switches from 2nd to 1st in "Drive" and rough switches from 3rd to 2nd in sports mode.

find a Good Indy BMW shop and have your trans fluid and filter changed also ask you local dealer about a software update(ask to talk to a service manager)

Took it to the dealer and $290 later everything works fine. Asked them to reprogram the trasnmission. Thank you for your help everyone.
