2003 330i cruise control will not engage

While driving on the highway last week I attempted to use the cruise control but for some reason it failed to engage. After trying to get it to work for over 10 miles or so, I finally gave up. Can anyone out there give me a clue to what could be wrong before I have to take it to the dealer and get ripped a new one in cost?

The fuse is good

After that, I'd check the relevant relays.

Could be the wheel speed sensor, best thing to do is have a diagnostic undertaken that should throw up a code, which then we can work from.

Finally, took it to the dealer. It turned out to the cruise control sensor was getting saturated with oil from the slave cylinder. At $100 an hour I got it fixed.
