2003 325i Computer Malfunction?

While driving into work this morning everything in my Speedometer area when black. All back lighting went out, clock went out, trip ometer reset...this all happened while there was a consistant 4 or 5 beeps. Then it all came back on however it seemed to take a few minutes for warning lamps to reset, like the seat belt warning lamp even though my seat belt was secure. During this I noticed no difference in the engine or any of the other controls such as the radio or AC. The rest of the drive was fine; just had to reset the time on the clock. Any idea of what might be causing this?

do you mean the cluster connector? If this is loose then all numbers will disappear because the connector is also feeding the power to the unit
