I just had my 50,000 mile service performed, but lately when I start the car when it is cold it sputters for a second or two. A couple quick revs usually takes care of this and once the car is warm there is no problem at all. I can't figure out what is going on. I use 92 octane fuel and can't figure out what is causing it. It feels like it is getting ready to stall but never does. Someone please help.
I called my local BMW dealer today since I just had the 50,000 mile service performed. I spoke with one of their technicians and he said it sounded like bad gas. They recommended that I run Techron and fill it up with Chevron 93 octane with Techron as well. I did this and so far so good. I can't believe how touchy these cars are. You would think when you spend this much on a car that it would not be so sensitive. I really hope this fixed the problem. I also ordered a K&N filter kit for it today, and I hope that will help. Thanks for the help guys.

I am not so sure about the 93 octane. I n general, BMW are designed to run with mid-grade fuel(89 octane).... I could be wrong but check ur fuel door for the manufacturer's specs. But you mentioned Techron which is in essence a solvent that cleans your injectors as you drive, and if u noticed a difference, then the problem you had was actually a partially clogged injector, and not fuel choice ;-)
Just wanted to let everyone know that I called the dealer and they said to run some Techron and fill the car with 93 Octane from Chevron, which they recommend. I did this, and unbelievably the problem stopped. I have not had a problem with the car since. I thought it would have been something more serious. I can't believe it was the gas that I was using causing the problem. I always use at least 92 octane, but not always from the same station. I still can't believe that fixed it. Thanks for all of the responses and help.
