2000 BMW 323ci can't start - BMW Forum

When I turn the key on position 2 and 3 only the millage lights up on the instrument cluster and nothing else. When I try to turn on the engine it just cracks and doesn't start up. I changed the battery but it's the same. When we hooked up the car to a computer it showed that it can't recognize the key and when we turned the error code off it started but the next day it couldn't start. Any help on what to do next is appreciated.

If you have an electronic key, it may have a dead battery.

Sorry for double posting but I just remembered that it can't be the battery because I can open the trunk with the remote control from the key, not the doors though.

I think you have a key to car program problem, try this I know it for a 7 series but its worth a go:
